Australia Day 2013

Australia Day 2013

Amanda with Australia Day ambassador Mark Tonelli A very busy Australia Day with performances at Wagga Victory Gardens Concert and then a quick dash to the evening celebrations at Mirrool.

An excellent mix of local bands and individual performers entertained the large crowd at Wagga despite the threat of thunderstorms and lightning strikes starting fires in surrounding areas. But the storms stayed away to ensure a great afternoon that extended into the early evening with local singer/songwriter Darren Coggan performing back in his home town.

Across to the evening celebrations at Mirrool where a mix of local and interstate visitors enjoyed a fantastic evening and were treated to a great presentation by former Olympic Gold medallist as a member of the 1980 “Mean Machine” swimming relay team , Mark Tonelli. Mark and his partner Sascha enjoyed the country hospitality supplied by the Mirrool locals and stayed  well into the evening enjoying the music and the relaxed atmosphere.

Thanks to all who organised both Wagga and Mirrool celebrations; it was a great day and proud to be an Australian.
